Porsche – Le Mans Classic
Porsche – Le Mans Classic
24 hours, once around the clock, was and is driven for the title at Le Mans year after year. Since 1951, when Porsche took part in this famous race for the first time with two 356/4 SL Coupé cars, not a single race has taken place without the participation of the sports car manufacturer from Stuttgart.
However, in the first race only the car with starting number 46 drove, because the second one had suffered irreparable damage in an accident during practice.
The starting number 46, on the other hand, held out. In its first participation in this prestigious race, Porsche was class winner in the group up to 1100 cm3 and achieved a sensational 20th place in the overall classification.
The present is fast, technically advanced and successful. That was also the case in the past with Porsche racing cars. And this mostly very successful past is shown in all its breadth every two years at the Le Mans Classic.
